Day by day itinerary

Day 1: Arrival

Welcome to the charming city of Chania, often considered one of the most beautiful cities in Crete. Upon arrival, checking in at your hotel—airport or port transfers can be arranged for an additional fee. Take the afternoon to settle in and enjoy a leisurely stroll along the Venetian harbor, wandering through the narrow streets of the old town and admiring the historic architecture. Explore local shops or cafés at your own pace, soak in the vibrant atmosphere, and let the beauty of Chania set the tone for your adventure ahead. End the day with a restful night, preparing for the exciting activities of tomorrow. Overnight Chania

Day 2: Hiking and Wine tasting at the Akrotiri Monasteries

Today, we explore two of Chania’s oldest monasteries, nestled just 10 km from the city center in the beautiful Akrotiri peninsula. The day begins with a private transfer to Gouverneto Monastery, the starting point of our scenic hike. Along a stone-built trail, we pass the Arkoudiotissa Cave and Katholiko Monastery, winding through serene landscapes until we reach the fjord-like Avlaki Cove, where the ruins of an old monastery sit beside sparkling waters—perfect for a refreshing dip. This 4-hour easy hike can be enjoyed by anyone with a basic level of physical fitness.

Our journey continues to the Monastery of Agia Triada Tzagarolon, a stunning Byzantine monastery featuring a museum, cellar, vineyards, and a library of ancient texts. Here, you’ll sample wines produced by the monks while learning about traditional wine-making techniques. Overnight: Chania

Day 3: Cycling to Malaxa and Aptera

Today, we set off on a scenic cycling route through the hills and olive groves of the Chania peninsula, covering approximately 25 km as we head to the archaeological site of Aptera and the charming village of Malaxa.

At Aptera, explore the ancient ruins and uncover the fascinating story behind its name, which means “without wings” in Greek. Legend has it that the Sirens challenged the Muses to a music competition at a temple dedicated to the Muses here. When the Sirens lost, they were so heartbroken that their feathers fell into Souda Bay, leaving them wingless—or aptera. This site was also a center for the musical arts in ancient times, making it a place where history, mythology, and culture converge.

After soaking in Aptera’s rich past, we continue to Malaxa, a picturesque village where traditional architecture and local life offer a true taste of the Cretan countryside. Overnight: Chania
